Jewelry Artist and Designer
Susan Weirather
Susan's passion for creating things has always been a driving force in her life. Jewelry designing provided a perfect outlet for that creativity and, in 2005, Sudeonym Designs was born.
Geometric symmetry, the unique gemstones nature provides us, the sparkle of a beautiful crystal inspire Susan to create her unique designs. A mostly self taught artist, Susan first started creating jewelry by stringing beads. While combining the colors and textures of different types of beads was rewarding, she had a strong desire to do more and started investigating other techniques and mediums for making jewelry. After reading about Precious Metal Clay, Susan was fascinated by its creative potential and took her first class in 2007. She was definitely hooked on the limitless possibilities of creating things from that mysterious piece of clay and pursued her PMC certification in 2008. The jumping point for developing her wire-wrapped jewelry occurred when a customer requested a piece of jewelry with a gemstone cabochon. At that time, having limited skills with wire-wrapping techniques, Susan ordered some books and taught herself the skills needed to create these unique and beautiful pieces of jewelry.
Susan has been a resident of Durango, CO since 2005. As Susan puts it, "the mountains are a part of my soul", and you will find her happily creating unique and beautiful wearable works of art in her home studio.
